Dr. David Bynoe is an agronomist, economist and international sustainable development specialist. He has strong passion for God, empowering people and protecting the environment. Dr. Bynoe currently works as the National Coordinator of the Global Environmental Facility-Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP) at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Multi-Country Office for Barbados & the OECS. As National Coordinator since 2013 he is mainly responsible for effective management of the GEF-SGP local team, the SGP programme and its portfolio of projects. Previously, Dr. Bynoe worked for seven years as an Agronomist with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries & Water Resource Management (MAFFW) and was awarded for his significant impact on the agricultural sector. In that capacity he developed and managed the National Organic Research and Development Programme and provided environmental economic advice to various government agencies and international organizations. Dr. Bynoe is a trained Environmental Economist with a Masters in Environmental Economics and Environmental Management (Distinction) from the University of York, United Kingdom (UK). He pursued this masters degree as a Commonwealth Scholar to the UK after completing a first degree in Agricultural Science from the University of the West Indies in Trinidad & Tobago. Dr. Bynoe concluded his Ph.D. with the University of Twente focusing on Multi-level Governance, Climate Change Adaptation and Agri-Environmental Stewardship within Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Utilizing these multidisciplinary skills, he served on the Barbados Green Economy National Steering Committee providing agricultural and environmental economic guidance. He currently sits on the National Climate Change Committee and is a technical advisor on Blue Economy development. In addition, he served as a member of the United Nations Environmental Programme Scientific and Expert Review Team that assesses emerging issues impacting Small Island Developing States. Dr. Bynoe has founded, led and served on the Board of many national and international charitable organizations. His life mission is to serve God, through serving others and protecting the environment.
